Brandy's New Bed

Our sweet dog Brandy has been using the same bed for many years.  We agreed to take in Brandy about 2 1/2 years ago.  She belonged to Jerry's dad who was no longer able to take care of her.  So when we "inherited" Brandy, we "inherited" the bed.

When I bathe Brandy,  I usually wash the bed cover.  I wanted to make another cover so there could be one on the bed when the other was in the wash.

I recycled the fuzzy material that had been the covers for doggy steps that Brandy did not use.  I used the existing dogbed cover as a pattern and some denim scraps for the bottom piece.  I had to piece together the fuzzy fabric and the denim but the end result was fantastic!

 All the pieces sewed together and the elastic put through casing hem that goes around the bottom of the dogbed.

Brandy actually stepped right into the bed after I put the cover on to pin the elastic on the bottom piece where it wraps around and gathers.

Brandy just laid down and relaxed!

Oh......to slumber land she goes......

Fun Easter Week

Henry and Corey had off last week for Easter.  They got to come over several days.

One of the days, Henry, Corey and I made English Muffin Pizzas.....yummy!

English Muffins, Grated Jack Cheese, Pizza Sauce and Pepperoni Slices!

Corey and Henry.....just a little excited to have lunch!

Another day, Henry had a friend come over and play.  So......while the boys played, the girls made Chocolate Chip Muffins and Cucumber-Lemon Water.

Later that day, Corey made a bag for her new marble collection.  She sketched the design she wanted to draw with a permanent marker on the red piece of fabric.  She sewed the red piece of fabric on one piece of the two pieces of dark grey fabric that would be the bag.  She added beads to the cords.......

She loves the PI symbol and added a "c" for her name

Several weeks ago I crocheted a Purple Cowl and Fingerless Gloves.  It was so nice crocheting them with the soft yarn.

I was very excited when Emily of Nap-Time Creations who hosts Tasteful Tuesdays notified me that they were featured on her blog.  I enjoy participating in her linky blog weekly.

Flower Thank You Cards

Upon needing to send some thank you cards to some friends, I decided to make them.

I do have a set of greeting cards that I made about 6 years ago by drawing pictures on them from existing paintings, dishes around the house.  They will be in another post later.  However, I just wanted to make some different cards.

I had crocheted some flowers while visiting my daughter Mary in Washington, D.C.  They were still in the yarn basket.  So I used them to tie to the front of the card.  On the inside of the card at the bottom edge, I printed "Untie and enjoy the flower".

They turned out so lovely and I am excited to make more.

Left to right....Baby Blue/White Flower, Soft Teal Flower, Soft Yellow Flower.

I punched two very small holes in the center of the top of the card using an icepick, put the yarn through the front of the flower through one hole and back up through the front of the flower.  Then tied the two pieces in a bow.  Even though this little bit of yarn shows when the card is opened, it has a clean look.

Sherlock Holmes Outfit by Corey

Corey, my beautiful granddaughter, is participating in a project through the orange county education department called Destination Imagination.  She is in a group of 4 girls.

They had to write a skit that they could complete within 6 minutes.  The skit had to include certain criteria...as well as the costumes they wore.

The theme for their skit was "In Disguise" which was designated to them by Destination Imagination Organization.

They had to do these on their own.......

The girls decided to write a skit based on a Sherlock Holmes mystery that they wrote, made the costumes, painted triple purpose scenery, and even played the background music in "silent film" style.....Yes....it was a silent film skit!

Corey used one of my old sheets for her costume.  She used the felt Tree Skirt for our Christmas Tree as a pattern for her cape.  She used a nightshirt pattern for her coat.  She found an example of how to make the hat online and adapted it to what she needed,

After she sketched, she started making all the parts of the costume.

I did thread my sewing machine and reminded her how to use it as it had been a while since she sewed anything.

One of the best parts of the costume is the pipe.........made from toilet tissue role and wire coathanger wrapped with brown construction paper; then painted with acrylic paint.

And to top it off, her group won 1st place in Regional Competition and 3rd place in State Competition.

Yogurt Cup as Candy Mold

I finally found a frozen greek yogurt made by Healthy Choice that I can enjoy eating.

Also used one of the little cups to make one last piece of chocolate candy Easter weekend.  I forgot about it and it stayed in freezer all night.  The next morning it came out of the yogurt container perfectly.

Jerry and I enjoyed sharing it that evening.
